My Mission.

“Listen to your breath. Breathe in and out. Notice the sounds in the room.”

“Breath in and out. Listen to the sounds outside of the room.”

The rain was pelting down and I started to stress about the walk back to the car. This was not the calming experience I was seeking at this stage of my pregnancy. My brain started to race, my throat tightened, and the anxiety was starting to rise. 

We have all been there…am I right?

I had to find a way to low my stress for my own health and for my growing baby inside of me. My thoughts turned to a time 15 years earlier when I was doing my Feldenkrais professional training program. I’m sure there were calming lessons that could help me.

I later found my Feldenkrais notes. Discovered lessons to help me calm my system. From breathing to the pelvic floor, many more. This was exactly what I was looking for.

Thankful that I already knew the skills to help myself and calm my system. I began to do these lessons over the following weeks to see if they could help me. 

After only a week of regular practice, I found my body tension reduced, the constant feeling of dread had eased and the knot in my belly was gone.

I found the value of The Feldenkrais Method again. How could I have forgotten?!

My repetitive and negative thought patterns were keeping my body in a heightened state, without my awareness of what I was doing I didn’t have control over it.

I found Feldenkrais just in time and used it to help me through my second solo birthing experience…

My story might be different from yours but I’m sure you can find similarities to the life challenges we all are faced with at times.

 

One year later, everything was different. My stress? Disappeared. My confidence! On the up and up. My anxiety about my future? Gone. And that, my friend, is why I decided to start teaching The Feldenkrais Method in my own practice online and start my business. 

 

How did I know Feldenkrais to be the answer here? 

Fresh from my professional dance training, 15 years beforehand, I was working really hard to master the breakdance move ‘the windmill’. My Feldenkrais teacher told me to go slow. 

Which at the time I thought was counteractive, if you know the windmill moves it needs momentum to get your body upside down and your legs swinging in the air. I moved slowly with awareness of the movements I was doing and WOW, that did make all the difference. I was able to master this move very quickly.  

The same principles apply to almost everything in life. Slow down and listen.
